About UK DIY Solar

I'm building this site because I went looking for straightforward, UK-specific advice on small-scale solar and couldn't find it — just a mix of sales pages and forum threads that assumed you already knew the jargon.

So I did it myself. I've got 3 JA Solar 460W panels on my extension roof (a roofer handled the actual fixing, I helped where I could), wired up with cables I made myself, feeding into an EcoFlow Stream Ultra. I'm building a hutch to house it — sized to accommodate a second, and possibly a third, Stream AC unit as I expand battery capacity. A fourth panel is going up on the wall next to use the last free MPPT port.

Everything here comes from that hands-on experience: what worked, what I'd do differently, and what actually pays off versus what's just marketing. The lessons-learned page is where I keep the honest version of that.
